Johnson denies Keselowski championship spot with Texas win

Brad Keselowski and the #2 Team Penske Ford may have dominated in the Sprint Cup Series race in Fort Worth, Texas on Sunday, leading 312 of 334 laps, but it was the #48 Chevrolet of Jimmie Johnson that ended up in victory lane with a late-race pass on Keselowski. It was Johnson's sixth Texas win, his third straight and fourth consecutive fall win at the 1.5-mile quad-oval. Besides the action in the final laps, the race was defined by tire issues. Keselowski's teammate Joey Logano (#22), already in danger of Chase elimination after the events of Martinsville, spun early after a tire blowout. Kyle Larson (#42) blew two tires, spinning the second time, after a similar tire rub while leading late in Saturday's Xfinity Series race.

Tony Stewart (#14) spun in the infield just after Fale Earnhardt Jr. (#88) had to pit for a tire change ahead of scheduled green-flag stops; Earnhardt later scraped the frontstretch wall, spun and had to fight his way back to the lead lap. Late in the going, Kevin Harvick, who had a tire problem of his own during that early period, suffered a broken shifter late and had to steer with one hand; the race's final caution with 25 laps to go allowed his crew to resolve the issue.

Jeff Gordon (#24) is the only Chaser locked into the Homestead championship round heading into next Sunday's Eliminator finale at Phoenix.
