98 days until the Daytona 500

Here is a list in detail of drivers who have driven a number 98 vehicle in all of NASCAR's major series.

Sprint Cup

Marvin Panch: 1970-1975

Derrike Cope: 1993-94
Cope drove the #10 Chevrolet for Bob Whitcomb to two wins in 1990, including the Daytona 500. He left after the 1992 season to drive for Cale Yarborough, with sponsorship from Bojangles and SuperCuts. Cope was replaced by rookie Jeremy Mayfield in the middle of 1994, moving to Bobby Allison's #12 team.
Jeremy Mayfield: 1994-95
Mayfield spent the second half of his rookie year and his entire sophomore season as Yarborough's driver before going to the #37 Kranefuss Racing Ford.

John Andretti: 1996-97
Andretti, previously an open-wheeler and who had swapped rides with Mayfield in 1996, got his first of two Cup wins in the 1997 Pepsi 400 at Daytona driving the #98 RCA-sponsored Ford, beating some of NASCAR's bigger names. The Yarborough team shut down at season's end and Andretti found a new ride driving for Richard Petty in the #43 Pontiac.
Paul Menard: 2009-10
The son of entrepreneur and IndyCar team owner John Menard, Paul previously drove for Andy Petree and Dale Earnhardt Incorporated. He piloted the neon #98 machine for Robert Yates in 2009, then for Richard Petty in 2010, both times as a Ford. He left for Richard Childress Racing in 2011, spawning the #27 Menards Chevrolet. Paul drove a copy of the car in the Nationwide Series.

 Michael McDowell: 2012-13
McDowell drove for Phil Parsons, son of the late Cup champion Benny.
 Josh Wise: 2014-15
Wise occasionally drove the Reddit-coined Dogecar, sponsored by cryptocurrency Dogecoin, and became a fan favorite thanks to usage of the Doge internet meme.

Timmy Hill, Reed Sorenson, T.J. Bell: 2015
The #98 team was sold to Premium Motorsports in the summer; Wise left shortly afterward. Hill and Sorenson have switched between the #98 and the #62 Premium entry, alternating between Ford and Chevrolet, since then on a part-time basis. Bell drove it at the Watkins Glen road course.

Xfinity Series

Aric Almirola, David Ragan, Ryan Truex, Sam Hornish Jr.: 2014-present
The #98 Biagi-DenBeste Racing Ford Mustang in the Xfinity Series is aligned with Ford Cup team Richard Petty Motorsports, explaining Almirola and Hornish's part-time status with the team.

Truck Series

Erin Crocker: 2005-06
Crocker drove for the Dodge team of Ray Evernham, who she married in 2006.
Johnny Sauter: 2013-present
Originally joining Toyota team ThorSport Racing in 2009 to drive the #13 truck, Sauter moved to the #98 truck in 2013 to make room for Jeb Burton.
