Erik Jones runs away with Truck win at Texas

Erik Jones led more than 100 of 147 laps in Friday evening's 350-kilometer (220-mile) Camping World Truck Series race in Fort Worth, Texas to take the #4 Kyle Busch-owned Toyota to its third victory lane trip of the season. It was the beginning of the first of three national series "tripleheaders", along with the Sprint Cup and Xfinity series, that will close out the 2015 NASCAR season. Jones, 19, is subbing for the suspended Matt Kenseth and will participate in all three races for the first time in his career. On Friday, he started the weekend by holding off a late charge from his teammate Daniel Suarez (#51) and was ahead of Suarez by about two seconds at the checkered flag, and ten seconds ahead of third-place Ryan Blaney (#29), Blaney's teammate, championship contender Tyler Reddick (#19), settled for sixth.

The race features only one five-lap caution for debris. During green-flag pit stops a little earlier, John Wes Townley got the pit road orange cone stuck to the front of his #05 Chevrolet; it was removed in the pits. Polesitter and second-in-points Matt Crafton (#88), who won at Texas in June and looked to have the strongest truck of the week, finished fourth. The two-time defending champion is 17 points behind Jones heading into the season's penultimate race at Phoenix.
